It must be around 30
years since our parish last held a May procession to the
Grotto in honour of Our Lady. This year it was
particularly significant as in our church dedicated ot
Our Lady we have a beautiful new Lady Chapel, one
result of building the Parish Centre. It was also 150
years since Our Lady appeared to St.
Bernadette at Lourdes.
To the strains of "Bring
flowers of the rarest, bring blossoms the fairest" we
filed out of church, led by the children carrying posies
of flowers, and assembled at the grotto. After the
flowers had been laid at the feet of Our Lady's statue,
Father Maher led us in saying a decade of the Rosary.
The Catechism class gave some reflections of Mary and
more hymns were sung. Then followed the children's
prayers and candles were lit for the sick and elderly of
the parish. We concluded with "Immaculate Mary", having
been blessed by participating in a beautiful service in
sunny weather.
